NEBRASKA CHAPTER ‘C’
From your Chapter Director
Greetings fellow Gold Wingers. Happy New Year to all. I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I know I sure did as I did get to make the trip to Texas to see my youngest daughter, her wonderful husband and their
almost 3 year old. They are expecting their next “boy” on May 12th. They say that will be their last so I better enjoy them as all my children are “done” having anymore grandchildren for me. I did get to see all of my children
and grandchildren over the holidays so life is indeed Great. On a more business note, we had a GREAT year here @ chapter “c” Our monthly get togethers had greater attendance than any other year.I think we averaged 23 per get together
..Last year it was 21 and change, so we are doing great. We saw many new faces this last year and we welcome them.We hope 2007 will be just as much fun so you will want to attend our get togethers.I am now working the midnite to 8 in the morning shift, so I do plan on going to the supper runs. We will talk about them and many other stuff @ our January get together which will be on January 21st in Columbus @ the Pizza hut @ 1:00 p.m. hosted by Dave and Karen Peters. Please join us if you can. We will announce the winner of the poker hand then.As you know, the winner gets their years subscription to GWRRA paid by the chapter. We don’t know if the BEST or the WORST hand will win. I will flip a coin @ the get together and we will know if the best or the worst will be the winner. Speaking of winners, our Christmas get together was a huge sucess thanks to all of you and in a very
large part because of our assistant director, Tim Kruger, who hosted it at his place of business, which is the bowling alley in Newman Grove. Thank you Tim and to your staff. You did a great job. I really don’t know much of anything else so I will sign off and hope to see all of you @ the pizza Hut in columbus on the 21st of January. Till then, remember we ARE friends for fun, safety and knowledge..later..Larry
Chapter Educator
Bob Lake needs to know ASAP anyone and everyone wishing to attend the Norfolk education class on the 20th and 21st. This is the biggest GWRRA motorcycle training class ever to hit Nebraska, you only find these educational
opportunities ar Regional events or Wing Ding, so thank you Bob for getting this class together.
One of the classes is on CPR/First Aid. How would you feel if you were witnessing a friend, or a loved one who was choking on something and you helplessly stood their and watched them die because you did not know what
to do or how to do it? Do you know how far to tilt the head back to be able to see down the throat for an obstruction and then know how to dislodge it? Do you know how hard to blow when doing mouth to mouth resecitation and how often? Do you know how hard to push on someone’s chest when doing
heart CPR without breaking a rib? These are only a few things that will be taught in the CPR/First Aid class.
Another class being offered is a Rider Education Seminar. My understandingof this class is it is going to cover everything from the beginning of the ride to the end, starting with what type of clothing that will keep us safe to checking the bike before we ride, how to recognize being to hot to being to cold and what could happen if we continued to ride, how to group ride, when to stop and rest, how fast to ride and where all of the Dairy Queen’s are located. These are only a few of the things that you will learn in the Rider Education Seminar. The last class will be on Leadership Training. No-one and I mean no-one can attend a leadership seminar and not come away
from it with at least one or two or more very helpful hints or ideas that you can use in your family, your work environment, or with a group of motorcycle friends. Do you know how to start a conversation with a stranger? Do you know how to work a room? Do you know how to overcome negative conversations? Do you know
what to do if you become an officer in GWRRA? These are only a few of the items that will be covered in the Leadership Training Seminar. Please call Bob Lake at (402) 597-1033,or Dave Peters at (402) 362-5005.
One thing to remember the faster you go the longer it takes to stop.
